Our Consortium

NEXUS is an international consortium of nine organisations from Italy, France, Ireland, Romania, Denmark, Portugal, Norway, Serbia, and Canada. Our goal is to establish an Issue Association, hosting a multistakeholder network, that develops an evidence base, recommendations, and roadmaps on specific sub-issues to deliver human-centric digitalisation in Europe and beyond.

Role: Coordinator

APRE is a non-profit association created in 1989 as a joint initiative of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and a number of public and private bodies. Its mission is to support and promote participation in the EU Research and Innovation (R&I) programmes, by providing information, education and assistance services. Thematic experts, project managers, policy officers, professionals in stakeholder engagement and co-creation, innovation managers work together to offer services and co-design activities to all actors of the R&I system.

Role: Standardisation partner

National Standardisation Body – ASRO is an association, Romanian legal person of private law, of public interest, non-profit, non-governmental and apolitical that operates based on the provisions Legii nr. 163/2015 on national standardisation and OrdonanÅ£ei Guvernului nr. 26/2000 on associations and foundations. ASRO is the national platform for the development and adoption of European and international standards.

Stiftinga Vestlandsforsking/Western Norway Research Institute (WNRI) is a non-profit research and development foundation devoted to serving the needs of businesses, industry and public bodies. The primary objective of the Big Data & Emerging Technologies Research Group at the institute is to apply Big Data and AI technology in new contexts, adapting and further developing systems, as well as developing new solutions to meet special needs. The group plays a key role in bringing research and the private and public sectors together as a community builder. They perform fundamental and applicable research covering all aspects of data, information and knowledge management, and artificial intelligence (AI). In parallel, their research also addresses prominent issues around privacy, data protection and ethics, in order to utilise big data to solve challenging problems for digitalisation.

Role: Network building partner

Clever Together Futureproof (CTD) is a change agency, dedicated to placing evidence, expertise, and people’s lived experience at the heart of decision-making. CTD gives leaders and partners the confidence and competencies to navigate wicked issues, both challenges and opportunities. Through deep insight, evidence and crowdsourcing, their methods, advice, and technologies disrupt traditional consulting, research and leadership approaches.

The Dais is a public policy and leadership think tank at Toronto Metropolitan University, working at the intersection of technology, education and democracy to build shared prosperity and citizenship for Canada. Since 2015, they have worked across Canada and internationally to develop new ideas and better leaders, resulting in measurable change.

Democracy X has the expertise and resources to support societal actors in addressing critical challenges related to democracy, technology, and the green transition. They operate as a nonprofit corporate foundation, driven by a commitment to make a positive impact for and with citizens, an impact on society and the planet.

Role: Community capacity enhancement partner

The INL International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, located in Braga (North of Portugal), was founded by the governments of Portugal and Spain under an international legal framework to perform interdisciplinary research and deploy and articulate nanotechnology for the benefit of society. INL has been operating since 2009, following a total investment of 100 M€ providing a high-tech research environment equipped with the latest technologies. INL provides a high-tech research environment to address major challenges of Nanotechnologies, in six main areas: Clean Energy, Foodture, Precise Personalised Healthtech, Smart Digital NanoSystems, Sustainable Environment, and Advanced Materials and Computing.

Role: Research and analysis partner

The Edward M. Kennedy Institute for Peace and Conflict Intervention was established in 2011 and honours the late senator for his  commitment to justice, equality and human rights.  While the Institute is based at Maynooth University, it has a high level of engagement with the wider community including key practitioners and is acknowledged to be one of the leading young universities in the world, ranked # 1 in Ireland in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Best Young University Rankings. The Institute is also leading several EC funded projects in the area of security and human rights.

Role: Supporting partner

The Faculty of Philosophy is the oldest Faculty at the University of Belgrade. Today, it is a modern institution of higher education that follows all current trends in educational systems across the globe. At present, the Faculty of Philosophy employs about 255 professors and enrolls around 5,000 students at all academic levels offering bachelor, master and doctoral programs for nine different renowned departments, some of which with a history over hundred years long. As a part of Bologna Declaration, the Faculty of Philosophy has reformed undergraduate studies, and improved its master and doctoral programs. These changes have made the Faculty of Philosophy academic degree and quality assurance standards more compatible with European standards of higher education. Relationships with some of the world’s leading universities and scientific institutions have been established, and the student and professor exchange programs have started developing and improving, positioning the Faculty of Philosophy well on the way to become a significant actor in generating contemporary higher education trends.
